Kristóf just before the match

Dear Csodalámpa,

Owing to the Foundation Csodalámpa, I had the opportunity to visit Madrid on the 21th of November in 2011. My precious dream came true watching a football game in the Santiago Barnabéu Stadium.

We started off the journey with my dad to Madrid from Budapest on a Monday morning. The flight took three hours, while we had the chance observe peaks of the Alps from up there due to nice weather. We landed on the truly huge airport of Madrid. It took 15-20 minutes to walk just to pick up our luggage.

Monika was waiting for us at the airport; she was very kind, and immediately took us on a sightseeing trip by car. She showed us many amazing buildings. Unfortunately, as I don’t speak Spanish I have already forgot most of their names. Albeit, I remember to the “Plaza del Toro” which is the place for the famous bull-fighting. We also checked out the sculptures of Don Quijote and Sancho Panza. These statues are special: if you get hold of the tail of Sancho Panza’s donkey sculpture, and you make a wish, it might come true. It’s almost like „Csodalámpa”.

Afterwards we left our bags at the hotel, and went for lunch and then took a metro to the stadium. Madrid has an enormous metro network. It has more than 10 lines, but it’s easy to learn and use them. The stadium was such a beauty from outside! Next to the arena stands a three storey shop selling products of Real Madrid Football Club. I would have bought everything from that shop, but I could convince my dad to buy me only a sweat-suit which is, of course, essential to cheer for my team.

In the evening we went to watch the game. The inside of the stadium was also huge, and we experienced a frenetic spirit. Goals came quickly. The score was already 3-0 in the 8th minute, and the final result was 6-2. The game and the teams were quite active. It was fantastic to watch them from so close as I had just seen them on TV before. It was easy to follow the game as I have known the faces and the their characteristics for such a long time.

We returned home on Wednesday. The weather was even clearer than before, therefore we could see the sea.

Unfortunately, the trip was over quickly.

Thank you very-very much!
