The situation in that we could take part together with Patrik when his big dream fulfilled was like a movie scene: Patrik had an opportunity to sit in a real tracked tank equipped with a gun-tube and he could also drive it – although not all by himself – at Tata Military Base.

Special arrangements had to be made prior to the fulfilment of this extraordinary wish. We had to send our request to the minister of defense to get to know whether they would organize the tank driving for Patrik. Weeks before the event several employees of the ministry, a number of lieutenants –colonels and soldiers of the Tata Infantry Brigade had been working to organize such a memorable day to the 6-year old boy that never should be forgotten.

Everything took place in order according to military timing. Probably it was one of the hottest days this summer when we left for the Military Base at Tata. On the way we got over the closed roads and traffic jam due to accidents. Then by coincidence we followed those two cars that were driving to the base at Tata. There we were welcomed by a real military line-up, hosts were saluting, and then after a short briefing the program was started.

We had a look at the tanks and soldiers explained everything in details, then they took Patrik in a tank. Since these vehicles were not moving, after a while we were taken to the real parade ground and there the long awaited moment came: Patrik could sit into a tank which was started and covered a distance.

We, the adults just wondered how Patrik felt safe and on the other hand it was also amazing how those sober-minded soldiers tried to care for Patrik and tried to meet all of his requests.

Coming back from the journey, Csaba Hende minister and Zsolt Sándor brigadier general gave Patrik a remote-controlled tank and a certificate confirming his courage on behalf of the soldiers. His tiny little figure was closed round by a complete Infantry Brigade and they helped him to move among the huge vehicles. Even the adults’ eyes were tearful when we saw the sober-minded solders taking care of Patrik, teaching him, seating him on their laps and carrying him round the barrack.

Patrik, we all wish that you should never forget this day and the number of good people there who all wanted you get well.

Thank you so much to dr. Csaba Hende minister of defense, his colleagues

and Zsolt Sándor lieutenant –general and the personnel of the 25th György Klapka Infantry Brigade at Tata

for their kind attention and helpfulness towards Patrik and his parents.
