I met Krisztián on a dreary February morning at the Madarász Street Children’s Hospital. There was a visitation ban at the hospital due to the flue outbreak, but when I told at the reception desk that I was there from Csodalámpa to grant a wish, I was quickly ushered upstairs to the oncology department.

Krisztián and his grandmother arrived from out of town for a four-day long treatment series. On this day, however, a joyful surprise was waiting for him beside the painful treatment.

Krisztián had been wishing for a laptop for quite some time. He has to spend a lot of time in the hospital, and the days are long and very boring. But now his wish was finally granted with the help of the Csodalámpa Alapítvány, and its generous supporters.

Krisztián had been excitedly expecting me. When I handed him the laptop, he took it with a big smile on his face, fired it up right away, and happily set out to explore the different games on it. The outside word ceased to exist for him, as he got completely absorbed in the game.
